First Sentence Friday + An Interview...

Over my vacation last week I took Forget You by Jennifer Echols with me for a beach read. I am so glad that I did because I absolutely loved it!

Here is the first sentence of the novel:

Every strong swimmer has a story about nearly drowning.

I loved that...and the next line! Such a good book all around. Others have said that they enjoyed Jennifer Echols Going Too Far more than Forget You. I guess I'm not like others because I thought the opposite.

Curious about what I'm reading now? Consume by Shelly Crane. I read her first book in this series a while ago and was super excited to read this one.

Here is the first sentence of the novel:

I felt wretched as I walked away from Tate's house.

I'm 73% finished with Consume and have really enjoyed it so far.

So now you're wondering about this interview thing right? Alyssa Rose Ivy was nice enough to feature me as one of her Behind The Gate Interviews! Alyssa is a super sweet person and a talented writer I've come to know over the last month or so. Head over to her BLOG and check out the interview and glance around at some of her stuff. She's also holding a giveaway for a Kindle edition of Marked!

One more thing...don't you love my new look on the blog? I am in love! I have stared at it for hours!

Happy reading all!

The Unloved News...

All right, I'm busted. I know I said that I wouldn't be back until Monday...but here I am. AToMR Tours is organizing a cover reveal for me for The Unloved! If you would like to be a part of this please head over to their site to fill out a form HERE

And, because I know you're curious and dying to know just what The Unloved is about...here's the blurb for you:

Sometimes the love our heart needs to heal can be found in the familiar eyes of a childhood friend...

Julie Porter learned the hard way that trust is something which must be earned and not something to be given out lightly, those who say they love you are those who hold the power to hurt you most, and best friends can help you survive anything—until they move away.

Nick Owen knows a thing or two about a hard life. At a young age Nick learned how to take a hit and to make lemonade out of the lemons life tossed his way. Returning home after nearly two years of being away, all Nick cares about now is protecting his mom from the abusive hands of his father and catching up with his best friend—the girl who lived across the street, the girl he can’t seem to stop thinking about.

Finally reunited after two years apart, Nick and Julie are about to learn that age does nothing to protect you from life’s trials and tribulations, heartache and loss, but maybe together they’ll find a way to survive.

(Mature Young Adult, contains violence, language, and sexual situations.)

So excited to finally share that with you guys! The cover reveal is scheduled for July 23. An official release date is still to be announced, but I'll let you in on a little secret...you won't have to wait much longer after the cover reveal to get your hands on it! ;)

Going Off The Grid, Slightly...

After attempting to adjust to baseball season being over with for my little man, the school year ending while leaving me racking my brain out for fun summer activities to occupy a five year old and an eight year old because if not said children will kill each other, walking the dog everyone wanted but no one wants to do the actual taking care of, cleaning a house that magically messes itself up right behind me as I go, watching my grocery bill soar because apparently no amount of food is enough for my children to consume during the summer, and cranking out a novel in four weeks...I am due for a vacation! Yes, I said it! A vacation!

My version of a vacation: parking my butt in a beach chair, digging my toes in the sand, and grabbing up the paperback I bought forever ago and haven't read yet. I don't know if this will actually happen, but I'm taking both my beach chair and that paperback I've been wanting to read and at least attempting to get away with it. What I will not be taking however is my laptop. This year I will be attempting to cut myself off from the Internet and writing.

Since the husband is taking his iPad, because sometimes I seriously wonder if he had that thing surgically attached to his right left arm, I will be checking my email and tweeting here and there. I'm just going to have to be sneaky about it, because it seems I'm the only one who gets the annoyed "You're still on that thing?" looks from my family.

So, I will be signing off until next Monday. When I come back I'll have some sort of a post regarding The Unloved for you. I'll also be letting you know when my expected release day is soon!

First Sentence Friday...

It's Friday! Once again I have not had a lot of time to read this week. I've been knee deep in editing/revising The Unloved. I'll be letting you all know when this will come out and such soon.

My current read is Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols. I always hear people rave about how awesome her books are, so I picked up one and began reading. I'm only on page 36 of 245, but it's pretty interesting so far.

Here is the First Sentence of the novel:

"That's the worst idea I ever heard," I told Eric.

Hey guys, this is a jumble of updates all combined together in one neat little package. Here we go...

Some of you may have heard me say that I'm currently working on a new project. If you've been following my blog posts here then you know that I was working on Hereafter, but that I became stuck. Blocked. Whatever. When this happens I generally switch to a new book idea and work on that for a while until I become magically unstuck with the book I was originally working on. Crazy, I know, but it does work for me. Generally speaking. This time? Not so much. The novel idea that I decided to work on took over my mind and wouldn't let me go until the story was told. Yesterday morning I finished the rough draft to this WIP (work in progress)!

I have never wrote a novel so fast! I started the first week of May and finished yesterday! I know there are authors who write like this all the time, but I am not one of them. It normally takes me at least three months before I finish the rough draft. See why I'm excited now?

So, what genre is this so-called novel? Title? I have those answers for you! It's another YA Contemporary work. There's some romance and some heartache. Some darkness and some light. I, personally, don't think that it is quite as raw as Shattered Soul seemed to be for some people...but you can be the judge of that. ;) The title is...are you ready?

The Unloved

And yes, I already have a potential cover image picked out. Two to choose from actually, because I'm insane like that. I have to have a cover mock up completed even before I've finished the rough draft.

When will this novel be releasing? I'll let you know closer to completion...until then, 2012 FOR SURE!

Moving on....
